TESTIMONIALS OF RUNNERS

“Great event with 100% local spectator support in some of the tiniest villages in Peru!!! Perfect weather (always in Peru) and great course markings for a route that was very creative and took us through villages, coastal areas, and the beach front in Pacasmayo, twice. There was always an aid station within a few miles, replete with great food and cheering volunteers! While 30-40% of this marathon may have been on asphalt, the other gravel, dirt, sand portions made it truly unique, never boring and always fun to run. And, starting all 4 races (5K, 10K, 21K, 42K) at the same time worked out great and kept people of different runs on the same course for even more support as they completed their out portion and turned around to head back to the start/finish line. Everyone’s local stone carving medallion was beautiful and gave us a chance to see the artists at work in Peru. Walking as a parade of runners through town the evening before was brilliant, allowing us to form camaraderie between runners and locals, and all of the townspeople were cheering and enjoying the dancers and music that accompanied us. Nice job.
Thanks to all of the course organizers, volunteers and spectators, this was a great run full of good news around every corner”

“I think the Pacasmayo Marathon is an extremely well organised marathon. It is an interesting and challenging course – the hills in the first 31km and the stony desert in the last 10-11km. The scenery is very good and the locals give you plenty of support. The pasta party was great, as was the explanation of the course at the pasta party. I liked the shirt and the marble finishers medals were unique. The marble lighthouse trophies are fantastic and look great on a shelf in my study. The atmosphere reminds me of 2 of my favourite small marathons in Australia – Alice Springs and Traralgon. Having the half marathon, 10km and other races ensure you have quite a few people running overall, even though the marathon numbers aren’t large. The organising committee does a great job! ”

We have all said at some time that we would run somewhere different … elsewhere in the world that is beautifully unique … where local people are friendly and genuinely glad to see you … where hospitality comes from the heart and feel immediately at home … and where the climate throughout the year is pleasantly close to perfection. This place is waiting and called Pacasmayo, Peru.
The next time you wish to check a place that is different than all your past adventures, why not consider this hidden gem” – Travel Answer Man

“The race was amazing. It was well organized from packet pick-up to the after party and everything in between. The support of the volunteers at the aid stations was wonderful. The other runners made it an amazing experience with their encouragement. I can’t wait for next year. Thank you for all your help. I was really glad to be able to do the 21k. Blessings to all the workers. Take a well deserved break!”
– Tracy Reeves

“The 42 Km course is designed to challenge marathon runners of all levels.  It will challenge runners both physically and mentally.  Whether you are an elite runner or competing in your first marathon, the 42 Km race will test your resilience.  But once you cross the finish line, you will feel a sense of accomplishment that few people will ever experience.”
